With one twist, Tolkien turns his archetypal quest story into something incredibly more.

The Fellowship of the Ring, Book 2, Chapter 10: The Breaking of the Fellowship

Chapter synopsis: The Company spends the night on the western bank of the Anduin River. The blade of Sting, Frodo’s sword, is gleaming, indicating that Orcs are not far. The next day they must decide their future course; the choice lies on Frodo, since the Ring-bearer’s course can only be decided by the Ring-bearer himself. Frodo asks for an hour alone to decide. While the others discuss their stategy for the future, Boromir approaches Frodo and tries to convince him to take the Ring to Minas Tirith. Frodo says it would be best to go to Mordor and Boromir grows angry. The man tries to take the Ring from the hobbit, but Frodo puts the Ring on and escapes. Boromir returns to the others and tells them Frodo disapppeared. Sam guesses what happened and finds Frodo just before he departs for the eastern shore. The two continue the journey to Mordor alone.

Wisconsin Recall Election

I’ve been busy with work and summer projects, thus the lack of posts. Today I’m voting for Tom Barrett and against Governor Walker in the Wisconsin Recall Election. I still expect Walker to win. He’s spent $25 million compared to Barrett’s $3 million. I do hope as many people in Wisconsin as possible vote, so the result isn’t due to an angry minority seeking its own agenda (like usual).
