I was surprised to see that I and The Lord of the Films are listed in the bibliography of this volume of Project Muse, a humanities and social sciences journal.

Warner Brothers has announced the official titles for the two upcoming ‘The Hobbit‘ films. As I previously reported in March (when the titles were registered by New Line), they are ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘ and ‘The Hobbit: There and Back Again.’

They sound pretty cool to me, and the fans already have voiced their approval!

My hometown bills itself as “Chocolate City USA” and “the home of Nestle Chocolate”. In fact, it’s not the home of Nestle at all but simply the midwestern headquarters of Nestle Chocolate and Confections. However that doesn’t stop the town from having a festival and a parade. Here are photos (and a video) I took at today’s parade:

Direct from Peter Jackson…

“Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas. I’m excited to announce today that we’ll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again. Funny thing is, I look older—and he doesn’t! I guess that’s why he makes such a wonderful elf.”

This happened too late to be included in Hobbit in 5, but here’s Rebekah with the remainder of the latest Hobbit news:

This is my backyard after a snowstorm some weeks back. The fence is about four feet high. My dog usually loves snow, but this was even too much for her!

Randy Savage died in a car accident. I was glad to be able to see him several times growing up, including when he and Hogan split up on national television. Now he can be with Elizabeth again!

Photo of the Week

This is a photo of the sunset I took in Minnesota. It nearly didn’t happen (the photo, not the sunset) because when I saw the sun going down and wanted to take a picture, I couldn’t find the camera at first. As it happens, I found the camera seconds before the sun dipped over the horizon and snapped my favorite photo.

It’s interesting to think about the fact that one of the objects in the photo is about 93 million more miles away than everything else.

It’s the latest Hobbit news! (Rebekah’s freeze frame smile is a little scary, isn’t it?)

This is my wife and me in Green Bay at Lambeau Field (in 2008), getting ready for Aaron Rodger’s first start at quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. Most of the people were wearing #4 jerseys in honor of Brett Favre, but I had my Aaron Rodgers #12 on!

Green Bay

The Packers went on to defeat the Vikings; it was the first time since 1991 that a quarterback other than Brett Favre led the Packers to victory. This past February Aaron led the Packers to their first Super Bowl championship since 1997.
