The Hobbit to Stay in New Zealand

After an outpouring of support from fans, New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has announced that Warner Brothers has agreed to shoot the Hobbit films in New Zealand. Here’s the story.

From the quotes in the article, Jackson still seems a bit angry at the actions from some people that nearly cost him the chance to shoot the films in his native country!

The New Zealand Herald is reporting that Sylvester McCoy flew out to Wellington last Thursday to meet with Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens about The Hobbit. According to the report, He has been cast as Radagast the Brown, but he hasn’t signed any contracts yet.

Radagast is a wizard and is said to be Gandalf’s cousin. He’s only mentioned in the book, but indications are he’ll have a much more substantial part in the films.
